About the Hospitality & Tourism Management Major
As part of the Department of Management, App State's hospitality and tourism management major prepares you to be a leader in your career and address complex problems for industry. From managing hotels and convention centers, to meeting and event planning, destination marketing, and much more, here you will receive an App State BSBA with a focus on what you are most passionate about.
Courses
In addition to the business and management core courses, hospitality and tourism management majors combine major-specific classes that create focus areas to prepare for careers in the hospitality and tourism industries. Students may choose to focus on: hospitality services and event management; sustainable and international tourism; destination management; entrepreneurship and experience design; and more.
Internship
As a hospitality and tourism management major, you will complete 10 weeks of full-time employment (400 hours) during the summer between your junior and senior years. This provides a structured learning experience in an environment designed to prepare you for a management career. In addition to offering resume-building experience, your internship expands your professional network, refines key skills, and nurtures confidence.
